UCF’s Solar Eclipse Viewing Session Photo Gallery

Couldn’t make UCF’s Great American Eclipse event on Monday? Don’t worry – for throwback Thursday we’ve got you covered.

The historic event [1], the first total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States since 1979, drew thousands of people to campus on the first day of classes for the new semester. Viewers along a path from Oregon to South Carolina experienced 100 percent of the sun blocked out by moon, while in Orlando 85 percent of the sun was blocked.

Why all the excitement? The phenomena won’t occur again in Florida until April 8, 2024, when the path of totality will be from Texas to Maine.
