Entrepreneurial culture is one of the four key platforms of the UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness), and Cameron Ford, Ph.D., is the leader in promoting student entrepreneurship. His program, Building a Movement: The Next Generation of Entrepreneurial Leadership, was the latest in the #UCFBusiness Dean’s Speaker Series.

As the keynote speaker of the most recent #UCFBusiness Dean’s Speaker Series, Dr. Ford shared the changes occurring on campus to “bend the culture” and discussed the unique successes of student entrepreneurs at UCF. As part of his “TED-style” talk, he invited a few student ventures to share how the UCF Blackstone LaunchPad helped them create their startups and pave their road to success.

One of the featured students was Milka Derisma, the founder of Byg Shift. Derisma channeled her entrepreneurial spirit toward creating a resource that could help transfer students have a more seamless transition.

“At this event, I got a chance to present my company and speak about my experience thus far being a student entrepreneur. We’re working on an app that helps students effectively and smoothly transfer from a two-year college to a four-year college,” stated Derisma.

Other student entrepreneurs featured included:

  • Jesse Wolfe and Ryan Atkins, O’Dang Hummus
  • Joshua Imel, Teeps
  • Cedric Lopez, CazaLopez
  • The Dean’s Speaker Series, generously supported by CFE Federal Credit Union, is a monthly opportunity for local business leaders to learn about the provocative and new programs that the world class faculty at #UCFBusiness are spearheading, researching, and teaching. This is an opportunity to be out on the edge of new business ideas and network with other business leaders in our community.
