International students, faculty and staff are an integral part of who we are as Knights. To celebrate our cultural diversity, UCF Global is hosting International Education Week, a campuswide series of concerts, films, panel discussions, parties and other events showcasing traditions, viewpoints, arts, music and flavors from around the world.
Here a just a few of the events you won’t want to miss:
Tuesday, Nov. 13
11th Annual International Breakfast
8-10:30 a.m., Pegasus Ballroom, Student Union
The kickoff for International Education Week features a panel discussion addressing how the current global diaspora that’s driven by civil and political unrest, poverty, natural disasters and other factors impacts the immigration trends and policies of countries around the world. The panel includes Natalia Moroz, first secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United States and acting director of the Russian Cultural Centre; Ambassador Karim Haggag, director of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Alsaud Center for American Studies and Research at The American University in Cairo; and Ambassador Harriet Elam-Thomas, director of Diplomacy Studies at UCF. Tickets are required.

The Consulate of Mexico in Orlando presents a festive showcase of Mexican culture, cuisine, history, art and music, with a special focus on one of the country’s most authentic and internationally recognized products, the avocado.
Middle Eastern Film Series: The Idol
7:30-9:30 p.m., Memory Mall
This 2015 film by two-time Academy-Award nominee Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now, Omar) follows an aspiring Palestinian singer from Gaza who risks his life to compete for a chance at stardom on the reality TV show, Arab Idol.
Wednesday, Nov. 14
Noon-2 p.m., Memory Mall
Sample cuisine and culture from more than 11 countries during this multi-course outdoor picnic on Memory Mall.
12:30-2:30 p.m., Cape Florida Ballroom, Student Union
Learn basic phrases and pronunciations in Arabic, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese and other world languages during this fun smorgasbord of international conversation.
Cultural Traditions of India: Music and Art
1:30-3:30 p.m., Burnett Honors College
Performances by Pandit Nandkishor Muley, master of the santoor instrument, highlights this multi-exhibit exploration of Indian culture and the arts.
Thursday, Nov. 15
10 a.m.-1 p.m., Pegasus Ballroom, Student Union
All things global at UCF will be on display at this diverse tabling event that features interactive activities, food, music, giveaways and dozens of ways to get involved and learn more about our international community.
Calcutta 2019: The India Documentary Lab
12:30-1:30 p.m., Burnett Honors College
UCF Film and Mass Media Professor Phil Peters and students from the Nicholson School of Communication and Media traveled to India to collaborate with student filmmakers and share the results in this interactive presentation.
5:30 – 7:30 PM, Burger U, Knights Plaza
Test your knowledge of flags, foods, countries and cultures for fun and prizes. Register your team of 4-7 or individually to be added to a team.
Around the World with Coffee and Tea
1-3 p.m., Room 101, UCF Global
Coffee and tea transcend cultures. Sample authentic beverages from around the world and learn how they play important roles in the daily lives of humans everywhere.
