UCF Football Moves Up in Rankings After Win at Navy

The UCF football team is 6-0 for the first time in school history and voters of the Coaches and Associated Press polls continue to take notice. The Knights moved up once again this week, ranking No. 17 and No. 18 in the two polls, respectively.

This marks the fourth straight week that the Knights have found themselves in the Top 25. This year’s appearance in the polls is the first since UCF’s 2013 season, which ended in a Fiesta Bowl victory and a final ranking of 10th in the nation.

This season, the Knights have started 6-0 with wins over FIU, Maryland, Memphis, Cincinnati, ECU and most recently on the road at Navy. UCF won 31-21 on Saturday and broke the Navy Midshipmen’s 17-game regular season home winning streak, as a result.

UCF leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging 47.3 points per game and is one of just six teams in all of FBS to rank in the Top 16 in both scoring offense and scoring defense (Alabama, Ohio State, TCU, Notre Dame, Penn State).

War on I-4 rival USF is just above the Knights in the most recent AP Poll, coming in at No. 17. The Bulls are 14th in the Coaches Poll. Memphis moved up one spot in the AP Poll to No. 24, and is receiving votes in the Coaches Poll. Navy is also receiving votes in the Coaches Poll.

UCF will return home on Saturday to host Austin Peay. The Knights and the Governors are scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff on ESPN3.
