Todd Dagenais’ Central Florida Volleyball Camps Set for July

UCF volleyball’s head coach Todd Dagenais [1] and his staff will host the 2013 Central Florida Volleyball Camps in July at The Venue at UCF. Three separate camps will run beginning on July 6 and ending July 14. Prospective campers are encouraged to sign up soon as space in each camp will be limited.

“We’re excited to offer such a multitude of camps this year,” Dagenais said. “The popularity of the camps continues to grow at an astounding rate for us. We never thought we would see a day where we had to limit attendance because it maxed out, but last year we were able to achieve that level. We are proud of the high level training and collegiate camp experience we provide to all campers. There are not many places in the country with the type of facilities, dorms, meals, structure, safety and coaching that we offer in our summer camp program.

Any questions, comments or general inquiries about the Central Florida Volleyball Camps can be directed to coach Nicki Holmes [1] at 407-242-6603 or by following the official Twitter feed of the camp at https://twitter.com/CFVBallCamp [2]. Discounts for UCF faculty and staff members are available.

The first camp will be an All Skills Camp that is open to campers of all ages. This camp will focus on improving the six basic skills to play successful volleyball. Skills will be taught in both individual as well as team settings. Coaches will also discuss what it takes to be a collegiate athlete and other important topics for today’s athlete.

The second scheduled camp is the college prep/elite camp. This camp is limited to athletes entering their sophomore season of high school volleyball or higher. This is a camp experience like none other in the Southeastern United States. It is designed to take a player’s game to the collegiate level by exposing them to the daily training systems used in a NCAA Division I and National Team program. Campers will experience four days of intense, skill-specific training. This camp is geared towards those high level players who have the dream and potential to play college volleyball.

The final camps are hitter, setter and libero specific and are also open to all ages. Campers at the hitter clinic can expect to learn every facet of attacking from transitioning off the net, to a powerful approach, to a multi-directional arm swing. Campers will learn to see the block as they jump and decide to attack down the line, angle or seam. Campers will also get clocked by in-house radar guns to find out just how hard they hit. At the libero camp, major emphasis will be placed on body posture, footwork, digging techniques, advanced floor skills, and ball-handling techniques for serve, receive and defense. The setter clinic will feature technique-packed training sessions with an emphasis on hand position, body posture, footwork patterns, release, location and decision making.
