Grade-A Teachers

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9, representatives from the UCF College of Education and Human Performance and the UCF Alumni Association are teaming up to visit several area schools. These “Knight Huddles” will honor some of our most dedicated alumni teachers and their colleagues, who pour their hearts and souls into educating future generations.

The huddle visits will include special recognition of three Knights who were named Teachers of the Year for their counties: Matthew Yount, ’02, Brevard County Teacher of the Year from Atlantis Elementary School; Bridget Dycus, ’87, Seminole County Teacher of the Year from Rock Lake Middle School; and Grace Kellermeier, ’10, Volusia County Teacher of the Year from New Smyrna Beach High School.

In addition, visits will be made to Elizabeth Jarzynka, ’08, Seminole County High School Teacher of the Year from Oviedo High School, and to alumni teachers at Timber Creek High School.

All of the faculty and staff at each school are invited to share in the celebrations, which will include complimentary breakfast and snacks, UCF giveaways and more.

Other alumni recognized this year for their accomplishments include Keith Erickson, ’06, Seminole County Elementary School Teacher of the Year from Layer Elementary School, and Joseph Loffek, ’90, Brevard County Principal of the Year from Gemini Elementary School.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all teachers and school administrators!
