Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

The day of philanthropy is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, Giving Tuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports philanthropy.

Giving Tuesday at UCF was a big success last Tuesday, November 29. Gifts came in from 16 states, totaling $33,597 from 260 donors. More than $10,000 was raised for First Generation scholarships, which benefit those students who are first in their family to attend college. Donations to First Generation scholarships are matched 1:1 by the state of Florida, doubling their impact.
