Faculty Members Honored for Teaching, Research Achievements

About 100 faculty members have been recognized by UCF for their outstanding accomplishments in research and teaching.

Professors were selected for Trustee Chair Professorships based on their extraordinary record of accomplishment in teaching, research and service. They were selected by UCF Pegasus Professors and Ida Cook, chair of the UCF Faculty Senate.

Recipients were Peter Hancock from the College of Sciences, Mubarak A. Shah from the College of Engineering and Computer Science and Eric W. Van Stryland from the College of Optics and Photonics.

Professors from each college received Teaching Incentive Program awards, which are given to faculty members who demonstrate teaching productivity and excellence. Recipients by college include:

  • College of Arts and Humanities: Belinda Boyd, Debora Cordeiro Rosa, Alice Korosy, Humberto Lopez, Chiara Mazzucchelli, Lisa Nalbone, Maria Spina, Lisa Mills, Scott Warfield, Amelia Lyons, Hakan Ozoglu, John Sacher, Shelley Park and Michael Strawser.
  • College of Business Administration: Bradley Braun, Robert Potter, Anthony Byrd, Charles Kelliher, Marcia Veit and Amit Joshi.
  • College of Education: Laura Albers-Biddle, Haiyan Bai, Stephen Sivo, Stacy Van Horn, Gordon Taub, Juli Dixon, Regina Gresham, William Russell and Lee-Anne Trimble Spalding.
  • College of Engineering and Computer Science: Haitham Al-Deek, Manoj Chopra, Charles Cooper, Avelino Gonzalez, Challapalli Suryanarayana and Chengying Xu.
  • College of Health and Public Affairs: Thomas Bryer, Wendell C. Lawther, Joseph DiNapoli, Linda I. Rosa-Lugo, Mary Ann Eastep, Abby F. Milon and Bernardo Ramirez.
  • Rosen College of Hospitality Management: David Kwun.
  • College of Medicine: Robert Borgon.
  • College of Nursing: Kelly Allred.
  • College of Optics and Photonics: Demetrios Christodoulides and Patrick LiKamWa.
  • College of Sciences: Sarah Barber, Barry J. Griffiths, Alvaro Islas, Michael Reid, Jason Swanson, Kerstin Hamann, Drew Lanier, Stephan Ihde, Jonathan Matusitz, Daniel McConnell, Pedro Patino, Nizam Uddin and Graham Worthy.
  • The following faculty members received Research Incentive Awards for outstanding research, scholarly or creative activity that advances knowledge in a particular field.

  • College of Business Administration: Honghui Chen and Carol Saunders.
  • College of Education: Andrew Daire and Scott Waring.
  • College of Engineering and Computer Science: Ranganathan Kumar, Kenneth O. Stanley and Joseph J. LaViola, Jr.
  • College of Health and Public Affairs: Thomas T.H. Wan.
  • Rosen College of Hospitality Management: Po-Ju Chen.
  • College of Medicine: Debopam Chakrabarti, Dinender Singla and Kenneth Teter.
  • College of Nursing: Mary Lou Sole.
  • College of Sciences: Deborah Beidel, Joshua Colwell, Talat Rahman, Denise Elizabeth DeLorme and Eric Hoffman.

  • Several faculty members also were noted for their success in research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
