Course to Teach Veterans How to Start, Expand Own Companies

The University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program and Kauffman FastTrac are teaming up to offer 30 hours of training to U.S. military veterans interested in starting or expanding their own companies.

The incubation program’s classroom-based course uses additional FastTrac instruction to help  aspiring entrepreneurs determine the viability of their business concepts and enable them to engineer a plan to successfully launch their companies.

Veterans will be offered a discount for the course valued up to $700.

One-hour information sessions are scheduled beginning 3 p.m. Feb. 28 the UCF Office of Research & Commercialization, 12202 Research Parkway. Other sessions are scheduled throughout March at incubator locations throughout Central Florida. Interested veterans can find more information by contacting Peggy Allen at 407-882-0888 or by email at peggy.allen@ucf.edu [1].

In 2012, Kauffmann trained more than 300 military men and women, and the company expects to train at least another 500 this year to prepare for the next steps in their careers, said Alana Muller, president of Kauffman FastTrac.
