Tal Dehtiar, founder of Oliberté Footwear, will speak at UCF on April 10 about socially responsible entrepreneurship. His presentation, “The Business of Doing Good and Doing Well,” will be 3 p.m. in the Cape Florida Ballroom of the Student Union.

The presentation, hosted by the UCF Global Perspectives Office, will detail his journey as a social entrepreneur and the creation of his company in Ethiopia.

Dehtiar was named one of the International Youth Foundation’s Social Entrepreneurs and one of Fast Company’s “Most Creative people in Business.” He was also named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst and Young in 2011. He encourages the need for real change in the development of corporations.

Oliberté Footwear is the world’s first Free Trade Certified footwear factory working exclusively in Africa. The footwear is made in an environmentally responsible manner, as well as used as a source to improve the community and its members. Dehtiar says success and social mindedness are not mutually exclusive goals.
