Catch Downton Abbey Season 3 ‘Premiere in the Park’ Event

Catch a front-row seat to one of the most-acclaimed series of the year, “Downton Abbey,” during a free screening of its Season 3 premiere.

WUCF TV, with the City of Winter Park, is hosting this special holiday event at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in Central Park West Meadow. The screening will be held behind the city’s “Winter in the Park” ice skating rink, at the corner of New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard in downtown Winter Park.

This special event is open to the public, featuring the first 60 minutes of the two-hour Season 3 premiere that will air in its entirety 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, on Central Florida’s only PBS station, WUCF TV.

Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to the event.

Filled with love and intrigue, “Downton Abbey” has been embraced by viewers and critics alike, making Season 2 the most-watched “MASTERPIECE” drama on record. Its first two seasons have together won nine Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for Best Mini-Series.

In its upcoming season, the Great War is over, and the long-awaited engagement of Lady Mary and Matthew is underway. But all is not tranquil at Downton Abbey as wrenching social changes, romantic intrigues and personal crises grip the majestic English country estate.

The all-star cast, including Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess of Grantham, returns for Season 3 and welcomes Academy Award-winner Shirley MacLaine as Lady Cora’s American mother.

“Downton Abbey” Season 3 airs over seven Sundays beginning Jan. 6 and concludes with a 90-minute finale on Feb. 17.

Each new episode will air at 9 p.m. Sunday on WUCF TV.

WUCF TV launched July 1, 2011, providing uninterrupted access to PBS programming to more than 3.5 million Central Floridians across nine counties. Owned and operated by the University of Central Florida, WUCF TV recently acquired the broadcast license of the region’s former PBS broadcaster, offering three new channels and a stronger signal to provide programming that entertains, inspires and informs our community.
