Carol Fishman Cohen, an expert on how professionals re-enter the workforce after time away, will speak at FAIRWINDS Alumni Center on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Registration for the community event, sponsored by the UCF Alumni Association, is open until noon Feb. 1. The cost is $50.

Cohen will present on “Top Strategies for Returning to Work,” followed by a workshop on “Resumes, Interviews and Job Search Tactics.” An opportunity for networking will be at the beginning and end of the program.

The workshop is focused on assisting those who’ve been underemployed or unemployed with gaining re-entry back into the workforce in roles commensurate with their skills and education, said Leah Goldson, coordinator of alumni career services.

Through workshops, employer panels, monthly job-search counseling and other initiatives, the Alumni Association works to support graduates as they progress in their careers.

“Career services is the number one requested service alumni ask for after graduation,” Goldson said. “Alumni needs can be very different from student needs as they often have more responsibilities, pressure and families to support.”

The Alumni Association is working to bring more events like this to campus. In March, it will partner with UCF Career Services to host a “Meet Your Mentor” event intended to help students and young alumni get their careers off to the right start.

Cohen is the CEO and co-founder of iRelaunch, LLC, and co-author of Back on the Career Track: A Guide for Stay-at-Home Moms Who Want to Return to Work.
