The Beacon Awards event was founded in 2006 by the Orlando Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners in partnership with Walt Disney World, The YaYa Network and the Orlando Business Journal’s Diversity Works program. The annual program recognizes individuals and organizations in Central Florida that promote inclusion in the workforce.

In presenting Mr. Ginsburg with the 2010 Luminary Award at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Resort Wednesday, the Beacon Network noted that the Alan Ginsburg Family Foundation had donated millions of dollars to Central Florida organizations, including a $20 million gift to help create Florida Hospital’s new patient tower. The 15-story Ginsburg Tower features one of the largest emergency departments and cardiac catheterization labs in the country and its lobby is specifically designed to be welcoming to people of all faiths.

Mr. Ginsburg’s philosophy of life is simple and generous: “To never forget the importance of the community in which you are creating new development and to give back as much and as often as possible.”
