2 Movies by UCF Film Alumni to be Shown at Winter Garden Festival

Two microbudget films directed by UCF Film alumni will be shown Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Garden Theatre’s StarLite Film Festival in Winter Garden. Films at the festival are feature length and made for under $200,000.

 “Waterhole Cove,” by Brett Bonowicz, is about the relationship between a female caretaker in rural Maryland and the two men in her life. Shot on location in Maryland, the film features a cast and crew of UCF alumni and was made with an estimated budget of $18,000.

 “Waterhole Cove” won first place at the Los Angeles Arthouse Film Festival. Bonowicz graduated in 2007.

Chase Conner’s “Less Lost” was produced through UCF Film’s Entrepreneurial Digital Cinema MFA program. The film follows a medically retired army veteran battling post-traumatic stress disorder. “Less Lost” was shot in 18 days throughout Daytona Beach and Orlando with a budget of $20,000, and also features a cast and crew of UCF students and alumni.

The film screened at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival as well as the Daytona Film Festival, where it was awarded the “Audience Favorite.”

Tickets are $5 for each film. The event will take place at the Garden Theatre, 160 W. Plant St. “Waterhole Cove” screens at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by “Less Lost” at 9:30 p.m.
