qu011Professor Zhihua Qu of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the CECS has been elevated to Fellow of IEEE. Each year, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for one of the Institutes’s most prestigious honors. Professor Qu was cited for his contributions to control for nonlinear uncertain systems.

Dr. Qu’s research interests include system theory, advanced controls, and their applications to autonomous vehicles and intelligent systems. He has received a number of awards, authored three books, and published over one hundred refereed journal papers. Dr. Qu has been an Associate Editor for Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and International Journal of Robotics and Automation. Currently, he is on the Board of Governors of the IEEE Control Systems Society.

Zhihua Qu received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1990. In August 1990, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at UCF. From 1995 to 1997, he served as the assistant chair of the department, and the director/chair from 1999 to 2004. He is currently the SAIC Distinguished Professor at UCF.
