Wounded Warriors at UCF Basketball Camp to Host Orlando Magic’s Wheelchair Team

An exhibition basketball game as part of the second Wounded Warrior Regiment Wheelchair Basketball Camp at UCF will be held tonight, Jan. 9, as 19 Marines test their new skills against the Orlando Magic’s professional wheelchair basketball team. The 7 p.m. game at the Recreation and Wellness Center’s multipurpose activities court is open to the public

The center is hosting the camp for Marines from the corps’ Wounded Warrior Regiment in Quantico, Va. The unit provides non-medical care to wounded, ill or injured Marines and sailors as well as their families as they return to duty or transition to civilian life.

The Marines are spending more than a week at the camp to learn new skills and practice drills to enhance their abilities.

The University of Central Florida’s Recreation and Wellness Center is funded by SGA. For information on the RWC’s Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation program, contact the RWC’s fitness coordinator, Ashley Hathcock, at ashley.hathcock@ucf.edu [1].
