UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness) professors and the DeVos Sport Business Management Program continue to build an international reputation.

This semester, Keith Harrison, Ed.D., associate program director and professor in the college’s DeVos Sport Business Management Program, was given the opportunity to give a talk at the University of Rome.

“I was a visiting scholar based on my research on the identity of college athletes in the USA, which several top scholars in Italy and Slovenia often cite in their own papers,” said Harrison.

The seminar, titled “Measuring and Assessing the Scholar-Baller ® Identity in a Global World: Academic, Athletic and Cultural Constructs,” was given in October. During this seminar, Harrison gave a talk on college athletes’ dual identity and the challenges they face balancing academics and athletics.

Harrison has worked with UCF since 2006. He has over 25 years of experience in sports and research in the areas of diversity, education and sport management.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Harrison was also recently featured on the ESPN segment “Outside the Lines.” He has also recently become the editor of the Journal of Higher Education Athletics, which is based out of the University of Oklahoma.
