A new space for thought-provoking discussions and business relationships is opening this week at the UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness). “The Exchange,” sponsored by FAIRWINDS Credit Union, will transform the old Magruder Lab (Business Administration 1, Room 148) into a gathering place for approximately 125 guests.

“The best education occurs when you get a chance to sit and have a conversation with someone who has something interesting to say. The more opportunities you have to participate in such conversations, the more you are going to learn,” states Paul Jarley, Ph.D., dean of the UCF College of Business Administration. “So, we will provide that opportunity to more than 25,000 students each semester in The Exchange.”

Speakers will include employers, faculty, students and alumni, and will cover a wide variety of topics, including:

  • My career story and what you can learn from it
  • My latest research project and why you should care about it
  • Smart choices you can make now that will position you for success later
  • New skills and experiences that are in high demand, and how you can acquire them
  • Obstacles and pitfalls college students face and how you can overcome them
  • An emerging trend or issue that is going to impact your life, and how you can get out in front of it
  • “The mission of The Exchange is to inspire and enable College of Business students to broaden their perspective and explore their potential outside of the classroom.  It will prepare students with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for their first job and as future leaders in the communities they serve,” said Tiffany Hughes, senior director of community & corporate engagement.

Upcoming speakers at The Exchange include:

  • October 23: Terry McNew, ’86, President & CEO Mastercraft Boat Company & UCF Professional Achievement Award Winner
  • October 27: Kerry Hannaford, Director, Accounting, Verizon
