The UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness) presented its inaugural Professional Fashion Show for students to learn the important points for dress in the workplace. The Office of Professional Development staff worked with Kohl’s to showcase appropriate business dress for networking events, daily office wear and interviews.

From an initial 38 entries, 20 #UCFBusiness students were selected to model the appropriate looks based on videos uploaded to Facebook. The student models each received a professional makeover that included hair, make-up and a professional attire consultation.

“The Fashion Show will be a great way for students to learn about low-cost options for professional dress,” said Career Coach Kelly Bogey prior to the event. “We came up with the idea to have this fashion show after hearing from several students that it is difficult to dress for interviews on a tight budget.”

Following a brief presentation from Kohl’s representatives Jessica Leno and Cary Caldwell, ’13, the models showed off their business attire to a classroom of students enrolled in GEB 3003, the first course in the #UCFBusiness Career Professionalism series.

Robert “Bo” Godfrey was selected by the Office of Professional Development to win a free business professional outfit, courtesy of Kohl’s.

“I live in Melbourne, and I’m not really associated with the school as much as I’d like to be,” remarked Godfrey after it was announced that he would win the outfit that he modeled.  “I feel like a part of the university now, which is nice.”

The Office of Professional Development (OPD) is unique to #UCFBusiness, providing both academic advising and career coaching services to students. Staffed by experienced human resource professionals, career coaches work to help students develop their career plan from the day they start classes in the college.
