Do additional stock offerings always portend bad news? What are the best indicators of sustainable positive growth? Who does the investment banker serve in the stock-offering process? These are but a few questions to be tackled at this month’s UCF College of Business Dean’s Speaker Series.

Ajai Singh, Ph.D., will explore these questions at this month’s UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness) Dean’s Speaker Series, to be held on Friday, October 30th at 7:30 a.m. at the Citrus Club in Downtown Orlando. Professionals working in financial planning, accounting, finance, banking or lending should plan on attending.

Limited seating is available and can be reserved at https://business.ucf.edu/speaker-series/. Registration is $20 and includes breakfast and parking.

Singh is the new chair of the college’s Department of Finance and director of the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate, and also serves as SunTrust Eminent Scholar Chair of Banking. Previously, he worked with the State Bank of India, India’s largest commercial bank in their investment banking group, and has been published in several world-class academic journals in finance. Before teaching at UCF, Singh was in charge of the undergraduate program in finance at the Weatherhead School from 1998 until 2011. Under his leadership the finance program was ranked #1 in the U.S. by Bloomberg BusinessWeek in 2010 and 2012.

The Dean’s Speaker Series is a monthly opportunity, sponsored by CFE Federal Credit Union, which allows the Orlando community to learn about the provocative and new programs that the college’s world-class faculty are spearheading, researching and teaching. Programs scheduled for 2015 include:

  • November 20 – Jim Combs, Ph.D., Dr. Phillips Chair of American Private Enterprise and professor of entrepreneurship in the Department of Management
  • December 10 – David Harrison, Ph.D., professor and Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar Chair of Real Estate
