On March 20th, the quickest way to interact with a billion-dollar company will be to sign on to Twitter and follow the hashtag #UCFBizChat. At 11:30 a.m., the UCF College of Business Administration (#UCFBusiness) will welcome representatives of Gartner, a world leader in information technology research, to discuss tips and strategies for students’ successful transition into the workforce.

#UCFBizChat is a bi-weekly Twitter chat where students have the chance to connect with alumni and business professionals from around the world. Past topics have included:

  • “Hiring for Marketing & Digital Media” (Selena Narayanasamy, ’09, president and head of strategic digital consulting, Orthris)
  • “Recruiter Hacks” (Cody Woods, senior field recruiter for executive positions and internships, Target; Shawna Beleckis, recruiter, Hilton Worldwide)
  • “Internships 101” (Mark Babbitt, president and CEO, YouTern; Lauren Berger, ’06, CEO and founder, InternQueen.com)
  • “Workplace Culture” (Ashley Perez, talent acquisition content strategist, WilsonHCG)
  • “How to Leverage Professional Organizations to Help Your Career and Networking” (Heather Deyrieux, ’03 & ’09, director of client services, OrlandoJobs.com)
  • “How Can I ‘Get to the One’ and Stand Out?” (Paul Jarley, Ph.D., dean, #UCFBusiness)
  • “Thanks to Career Coach Kelly Bogey and social media whiz Jonathan Gabriel, the College of Business was the first college on campus to host a Twitter career chat,” said Paul Jarley, Ph.D., dean of the college. “Think of it as crowd sourcing career advice to help you ‘get to the one’.”
