Fall Semester Kicks Off With Move-In Weekend
More than 5,500 University of Central Florida students are moving into on-campus housing today and Saturday with the help of family, friends and more than 400 volunteers.
Some students had family members help them carry load after load of their belongings into their rooms early Friday, avoiding the late-morning rain. Others happily accepted help from volunteers in yellow shirts, while UCF Police officers at various locations helped direct traffic and answered questions from first-time visitors on campus.
Move in continues Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Volunteers from the Residence Hall Association will be available to help during those hours.
“We’re very excited to see all the new faces,” said Anita Fazeli, a junior majoring in health sciences. She and freshmen Mykala Ford and Christa Deeks eagerly waited for new students in front of Tower 1 for most of Friday morning.
Students and parents are encouraged to arrive early and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. A limited number of hand trucks are available to use. It’s also important to drink plenty of fluids and take advantage of air-conditioning available at every move-in location.
