The UCF Police Department this week bid farewell to two police officers who combined dedicated more than 60 years to protecting and serving the community.
Hugh Carpenter and Chuck Reising were joined by their families, peers from UCF, former UCFPD retirees, colleagues from other agencies, and community partners at two retirement ceremonies held earlier this week.
Sgt. Carpenter retired after 33 years with UCF. He first started as a parking services employee and then moved to UCFPD as a dispatcher. He went on to become a sworn officer and then a detective and rose through the ranks to sergeant.

Cpl. Chuck Reising and his K-9 partner Max
Cpl. Reising retired after 10 years with UCFPD. He previously spent 25 years with the Orlando Police Department. Reising trained all three of UCFPD’s other K-9 teams, and he retires along with his K-9 partner, an 8-year-old German Shephard named Max.
As part of a UCFPD tradition to promote retiring officers to the next rank, Carpenter retired as a lieutenant and Reising retired as a sergeant.
