Tony Award Winner to Speak at UCF

Diane Paulus, a Tony Award winner and artistic director of the American Repertory Theater, will present a lecture about arts and humanities education Monday, Oct. 8, at the University of Central Florida.

Paulus, a theater and opera director who also is a Harvard professor, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Morgridge International Reading Center on the main UCF campus.

Her credits include the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair and The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess.

Other recent works are Prometheus Bound, a musical written by Tony and Grammy Award winner Steven Sater with music composed by Grammy Award-winning System of a Down lead singer Serj Tankian; Death and The Powers: The Robots’ Opera by Tod Machover, in collaboration with MIT Media Lab and Chicago Opera Theater; and The Donkey Show, a disco adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Her eclectic mix of productions have been performed on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in London’s West End, Cirque du Soleil,  New York’s Hayden Planetarium, and numerous other theaters and opera houses.
