Tiny Green Thumbs Learn Organic Gardening at UCF

The Creative School – which provides day care services for children of UCF students, staff, faculty and the community – hosted a Parents’ Planting day in June to assist with the effort. Parents, children and teachers planted seven rows of organic herbs and vegetables. Flowers also were planted to attract pollinating insects to the garden.

The UCF Arboretum provided the plants, supplies, compost, mulch and six volunteers to assist.

“There are so many benefits to young children having an organic garden in their play area,” said Tina Richards, environmental educator at the UCF Arboretum.
