Does your research have what it takes to win? Submissions are now open for the Twelfth Annual Graduate Research Forum- your opportunity to showcase your work and win cash prizes! The Graduate Research Forum is an annual showcase of the diversity of research topics being undertaken by UCF’s graduate students. This year’s event will take place on March 31, 2015 from 12:00p.m. to 4:00p.m in the Student Union-Pegasus Ballroom and will feature over 200 graduate student presentations.
Highlights from last year’s event included projects from: Business Administration and Hospitality Management; Education; Engineering, Computer Science, and Modeling and Simulation; Fine Arts and Humanities; Health Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematics, Optics and Physical Sciences; and Social Sciences. Best in category presentations were awarded to student projects that spanned from the mechanisms of breast cancer to workplace discrimination, and evaluating the impact of international service learning experiences.
Presenting at the Forum offers graduate students an opportunity to receive faculty feedback, share their work with the UCF community, and potentially win cash prizes for the best in category presentations. Each year the Forum showcases more projects from graduate students around campus and highlights a greater breadth of work that is being accomplished at UCF. Graduate Students are strongly encouraged to submit their work for the Forum whether it is in the beginning stages or nearing completion and submissions are welcomed from all disciplines on campus.
If you are a graduate student planning on submitting your 250-word abstract before the February 16 deadline, take advantage of the submission criteria and poster guideline information to produce the strongest proposal you can. Additionally, there will be two workshops offered in the Graduate Student Center that will address The Basics of Poster Presentations (March 5, 2:00p.m.-3:00p.m.) and Communicating Your Research (March 17, 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m.). Students presenting for the first time are strongly encouraged to attend these workshops to strengthen their presentation as are previous presenters who would like to further hone their skills.
Also note, if you are a member of the UCF community mark your calendars now for the graduate research event of the year! Faculty, Staff, and other UCF students are strongly encouraged to drop-by to support our students and learn more about the amazing scholarship that is being produced at UCF!
