Student Accessibility Services on Monday became the new name of UCF’s former Student Disability Services to better reflect the mission of the office, which is to facilitate accessibility and inclusion on campus.
“We will continue to work with students, faculty and staff at UCF to create the most accessible experience possible for students,” said director Adam Meyer.
The name change is reflective of a shift that the university is undergoing with respect to how disability is viewed on campus, “where the true disability barriers are more about the limitations of the environment – the lack of accessibility – rather than the limitations of the person with a disability,” he said.
The office, at 4139 Pyxis Lane in Ferrell Commons, will maintain its same services to create an inclusive educational environment for students and provide access to opportunities for academic success and personal development. The office is part of Student Development and Enrollment Services.
