Faculty, administrators and professional staff involved in undergraduate research will travel from Florida’s major universities and state colleges to attend UCF’s 8th annual “Florida Statewide Symposium: Engagement in Undergraduate Research” on Oct. 2-3.
The symposium, hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research, is the largest to date at UCF with more than 100 participants from 30 institutions in Florida.
This event is geared toward strengthening and developing undergraduate research and invites participants to share research projects, strategies, resources, and ideas about improving undergraduate research programs.
This year’s keynote speaker is Julio Rivera, past president of the Council on Undergraduate Research and a professor of geography and earth science at Carthage College. His seminar, “Defining Priorities: Rethinking Faculty Workload to Build Undergraduate Research,” is open to the UCF community, and will be in the Pegasus Ballroom from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Oct. 2.
Attendees will be able to view 30 other presentations during the symposium, including topics on diversity, mentoring, thesis programs, copyright, assessment and curriculum.
