Starter Riot, heralded as UCF’s biggest pre-Halloween social event, brought more than 1,300 UCF students to the Pegasus Ballroom on October 27. In addition to free candy and pizza, students were offered advice on beginning a successful start-up while pursuing a college degree.

Students feeling the holiday spirit came in their scariest attire to hear tips of the trade from RocketHub CEO and co-founder, Brian Meece. RocketHub is one of the world’s top crowdfunding platforms that allows entrepreneurs, musicians, and grassroots organizations alike to create successful campaigns to fund their projects.

Other student start-ups and established companies showcased their businesses, giving potential student start-up founders a chance to discuss strategy and tips on setting their own ideas into motion.

“We want students to understand entrepreneurship is a viable career path, and that UCF has many outstanding resources to help them travel that path. We encourage students to visit the Blackstone LaunchPad to explore the power of their ideas and join UCF’s growing starter community,” said Cameron Ford, Ph.D., coordinator of Starter Riot and director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Blackstone LaunchPad at UCF.
