How Mobile Devices Increase Student Engagement
Via Response, a cloud-based student response platform designed to engage today’s mobile app generation, will be hosting a 60-minute webinar on June 26th demonstrating how Dr. Amy Gregory, an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, made the transition from traditional instructional design practices to interactive student engagement methodologies using mobile devices.
As a result of nearly ubiquitous student ownership of one or more mobile devices, the “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) explosion is transforming educational delivery methods in classrooms of all sizes and configurations. Via Response was launched specifically to help instructors engage today’s tech savvy, interactive students through a state-of-the-art student engagement platform. Today’s college student has a passion for mobile technology, opening the door for instructors to capture their interest and attention through the devices they love to use every day.
“It used to be that students conformed to the instructor’s method of teaching, this is no longer the case with the shift from the traditional classroom to a more digital classroom,” said Gregory. “I wanted a new and creative way to teach my course material and get the students more engaged; it just made sense to incorporate mobile learning tools into my instruction methodologies.”
Gregory will offer insights and best practices on how to successfully leverage students’ mobile devices to improve overall performance. She will also speak about getting past the fear of allowing students to use their devices in the classroom by using effective instructional methods to deploy “Bring Your Own Device” student engagement tools, as well as share feedback from her students.
In conjunction with Today’s Campus Magazine, Gregory will be joined by Derrick Meer, President of Via Response, to discuss some of the latest trends in digital classrooms, including the shift towards leveraging mobile devices as a student engagement platform.
The webinar will take place on June 26th at 2:00 p.m. EST. For more information or to register for this free webinar, please visit www.viaresponse.com/junewebinar.html.
