An anti-terrorism training exercise will take place in the Central Florida Research Park adjacent to the University of Central Florida’s main campus on Wednesday, June 8.

The exercise from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. will start at the Army Research Laboratory at 12423 Research Pkwy., continuing south along Technology Parkway and ending at Science Drive. Most of the activity, including simulated gunshots and explosions, will occur on military property on Technology Parkway.

The exercise will produce loud noises and law enforcement activity in the area, but it is only an exercise and does not constitute a real emergency. The exercise is closed to the media and public.  No roads or parking areas will be blocked.

Participating agencies include the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, National Security Agency, Orlando Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, University of Central Florida Police, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Orange County Fire and Rescue.

The U.S. Navy is leading the exercise, which is held every year so military installations can prepare for how to respond during an emergency or disaster situation.
