Crime prevention tips, interactive safety demonstrations and information about campus care resources will be among the offerings at Wednesday’s Campus Safety Fair.
The fair, in its 6th year, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom of the Student Union. The Safety Fair is coordinated by Victim Services in honor of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, and it showcases on and off-campus services related to violence and crime prevention, fire safety, health and wellness and community awareness and support.
Information and hands-on activities will educate students about how to stay safe and equip them with the knowledge and tools to prevent and report crimes. Representatives from three local domestic-violence shelters also will be in attendance.
UCF Environmental Health & Safety will conduct fire extinguisher demonstrations throughout the day, and trained peer advocates from Wellness & Health Promotions’ Health Hut will answer questions about stress, nutrition, sex, alcohol and drugs and other areas.
Other UCF participants will include Active Minds, the student group focused on mental health; Office of Diversity and Inclusion; Office of Emergency Management; Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life; Ombuds Office; Department of Physics; UCF Police Department; Social Justice and Advocacy; Student Care Services; Student Health Services; and Volunteer UCF.
National Campus Safety Awareness Month events will continue throughout September.
All sessions start at noon in the Student Union, and they include:
