New flashing signs have been installed along the crosswalk between the Rosen College campus and the Lake Cay Commons shopping plaza (Publix, NYPD Pizza, Subway, etc.) in coordination with various parties, including the Orange County School Safety Coordinator and Rosen Hotels & Resorts. Rosen College is located along an increasingly busy street and additional measures were necessary to protect the safety of the community.

A few important details about the new flashing signs:

  • Once you push the button, the flashing light is activated immediately, allowing you to safely cross to the median on Universal Blvd. From the median, push the button again to cross to the other side.
  • Please note these are neither “motion-sensored” nor automatic, so you must push the button to activate the warning lights to alert drivers that you plan to cross.
  • Please try to refrain from distractions (such as talking or texting) while crossing the street, which can be hazardous to your safety. Be cautious and keep your eyes on incoming vehicles as you cross until you are safely on the other side.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Tadayuki Hara, associate dean of Rosen College, at 407.903.8174 or Tadayuki.Hara@ucf.edu.
