MASS Students Academic Achievements Recognized

On January 28, the Office of Multicultural Academic & Support Services hosted their student recognition reception, Excellence in Action. Approximately 200 first-generation and multicultural students were recognized for their academic achievement. Not only did these students achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher in the fall 2012 semester, but they also stand with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The students convened with their families and friends, and several UCF faculty and staff attended, congratulating students individually for their accomplishments during the reception. Guests from programs and offices included: McNair Scholars Program; Student Leadership Development; Counseling and Psychological Services; Pre-Professional Advising; University Testing Center; Fraternity and Sorority Life; and Undergraduate Admissions.

Chanda Torres, assistant vice president for Student Development and Enrollment Services, gave the keynote address, acknowledging the students’ achievement and encouraging them to continue on their paths to excellence. Students also had the opportunity to network and talk to professionals and guests.
