Many Stories, ‘ONE’ Community: WUCF Debuts New Local Show

Ever wonder why chickens hang out in downtown Oviedo? Or how you can become a “cocoa couture” chocolate fashion designer?

Then you won’t want to miss WUCF TV’s [1] new magazine-style show, “ONE.” The locally produced show, which debuted Thursday, Aug. 2, tells the stories of the people and places that make Central Florida a unique place to live.

In the first show, “ONE” took viewers to a fast-talking auctioneer class in Clermont, a chocolate lovers’ showcase in east Orlando and the UCF College of Medicine, where one man has decided to donate his body to science.

A new episode of “ONE” will premiere at 9 p.m. the first Thursday of each month, with additional airings each following Sunday at 6 p.m. The half-hour show will run other times throughout the month.

Since becoming Central Florida’s only PBS broadcaster in July 2011, WUCF TV is committed to providing not only educational and entertaining national programming but also high-quality local productions to expand viewers’ worlds and explore their community.

“Central Florida viewers deserve a station that wants to know more about them and wants to tell stories that matter to people who live here,” said Grant J. Heston, associate vice president of Communications and Public Affairs at UCF.

In addition to “ONE,” WUCF TV also produces the weekly public affairs program “Metro Center Outlook” with host Diane Trees, and “Global Perspectives,” an international affairs show with guests from around the world, hosted by Pulitzer Prize winner John Bersia.
