LinkedIn Partners with UCF to Test Job-Search App

LinkedIn Partners with UCF to Test Job-Search App

UCF is partnering with LinkedIn to test a new job-search app that is focused on students and others about to enter the workforce. To launch the app, LinkedIn also is partnering with Arizona State University and San Jose State University for the pilot program.

The app will guide students through the job-search process that includes some UCF-provided career-related content. Students and staff from the three universities will be given early access to the app during the pilot in February. LinkedIn representatives will host an interactive campus visit that includes an opportunity for UCF students to get their photo taken free by a LinkedIn professional photographer and learn more about the app from LinkedIn experts.

“The main goal of this partnership is to help students build their online professional identity and network and connect them to the latest job opportunities as they continue down the path to graduation,” said Maribeth Ehasz, vice president for Student Development and Enrollment Services. “This new app will be a valuable resource to help UCF students achieve their career goals. We are thrilled to join with LinkedIn for this partnership. ”

This is the first UCF partnership with LinkedIn. UCF’s Office of Career Services will provide the job-search content as well as tips on other topics such as networking, interviewing and creating a resume. The office will also promote campus events and open positions from its in-house job portal KnightLink and through the app.

“LinkedIn wants to connect students with opportunity,” said Ada Yu, senior product manager at LinkedIn. “We hope to help as many students as possible, so partnering with the University of Central Florida was an easy decision. In addition to having a large and diverse student population for us to get real feedback from, UCF’s career services center is forward thinking and has been extremely supportive in pushing this initiative forward.”
