The UCF community is invited to participate in National Hazing Prevention Week (September 21-25, 2015) in effort to raise awareness of hazing prevention through various educational sessions and activities.

Some highlights include:

  • September 22 @ 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Student Union: “These Hands Don’t Haze! – anti-hazing pledge signing. Signers are asked to prevent hazing before it occurs, stop it when they see it and report it if it has transpired
  • September 23 @ 12 p.m begins at Memory Mall: Silent March led by Fraternity and Sorority Life student leaders
  • September 23 @ 7 p.m. at Student Union, room 316: Keynote speaker Traciana Graves is one of America’s leading strategists for creating safe and cohesive workplaces and campuses. She infuses her passion and expertise to create an engaged audience that continues to combat incivility after the workshop is finished. Graves has been featured regularly on FOX business news, AOL, and the Huffington Post. Graves encourages students to take a stand for students who have to live with hazing, bullying, harassment, and ultimately, stand for each other.
  • Other events include a mock student conduct hearing, bystander workshop, and a graduate student case competition.

According to national research studies on hazing, more than half (51%) of all college students experience hazing.

Hazing prevention is everyone’s responsibility.  This year several offices and student groups such as- Recreation and Wellness, Community Support Services, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Student Involvement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Union, LEAD Scholars Academy, SDES, University Compliance, UCF ROTC, UCF Marching Knights,  Victim Services, Social Justice and Advocacy, Student Government Association, Office of Student Conduct, Wellness and Health Promotions, Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council,  Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and Diversified Greek Council have partnered to develop programs that will educate and encourage all Knights to take responsibility for our community.
