Gov. Rick Scott announced the appointment of two new members and the reappointment of a third to UCF’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

Former Winter Park Mayor Ken Bradley, ’85, and David Walsh, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas, join the 13-member panel that sets policy for the University of Central Florida.

Bradley, 54, served as mayor of Winter Park from 2009 until March 2015. He is senior vice president/administrator of Winter Park Memorial Hospital, which is part of the Florida Hospital system.

Bradley has a lengthy list of civic involvement. He serves on the Wells Fargo Central Florida Community Bank Board. He has served as a Board of Trustees member of the UCF Foundation, and on the boards of the Winter Park Library, the Southwest Volusia Healthcare Corporation and Heart of Florida United Way. He has also served as chairman of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and Community Vision of Osceola County. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Winter Park, with 29 years of perfect attendance.

Bradley has received numerous awards, including: UCF College of Business Administration Hall of Fame, Adventist Health System’s Crystal Angel, Winter Park Chamber Citizen of the Year and Orlando Business Journal’s Central Florida’s Most Influential Businessmen.

Bradley earned a Master’s of Business Administration from UCF in 1985, and a BA from Southern Adventist University (formerly Southern College of Seventh-day Adventists) in 1983.

Bradley succeeds Olga Calvet.

Walsh, 60, of Winter Springs, has been responsible for all aspects of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas’ business in the Western Hemisphere since assuming the position of president and CEO in 2014. In addition to the top role at the Lake Mary-based company, Walsh is also a corporate officer of its parent company, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd., in Japan.

He’d previously been a senior executive at Westinghouse in both power generation and industrial service roles, responsible for global plant-based service activities, and later responsible for their power joint ventures in China.

Walsh is a board member of Enterprise Florida, and has served on the boards of the Seminole State College of Florida Foundation Board and the Seminole County Foundation for Public Education.

He earned a BS in commerce from the University of Virginia.

Walsh succeeds Alan Florez.

John Sprouls, 57, of Orlando, was reappointed to the Board of Trustees. Sprouls is the chief administrative officer of Universal Parks and Resorts. He received his bachelor’s and law degree from Seton Hall University.

Their five-year terms began Monday and end on Jan. 6, 2021.
