Gallery 500 Kicks Off Summer Exhibitions

UCF’s Gallery 500 is kicking off its summer’s exhibitions with a solo sculpture show called (re)CLAIMed by Stephanie Cafcules, an MFA student in the School of Visual Arts & Design.

Cafcules works with found objects and industrial materials in a wide range of processes to create art that indirectly evokes nature. Each piece explores the materials and how far she can push their physical properties.

Controlling form and material is just as important as the uncontrolled outcomes, she said.

The exhibition is running through June 30 at the gallery, at 500 W. Livingston St., Orlando, and shown by appointment.

A reception will be held 6-9 p.m. June 20 in conjunction with the downtown City Art’s Third Thursdays.
Cafcules is president of the Knights Association of Visual Artists, has won several art awards and is a graduate teaching assistant.

The Center for Emerging Media is home to a collaborative group of teachers, students and industry professionals.
