Fresh Veggies Donated to KHK Pantry

Wellness & Health Promotion Services is proud to announce it has harvested the first crop of produce from their Arboretum Plot of the year. The WHPS staff has been busy pruning, weeding, watering and caring for their organic garden plot. The professional and student staff’s garden yielded carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans and various leafy greens.

“Our staff believes it is important to work side by side with students [even if it means getting our hands dirty]. We value wellness and strive to model healthy practices,” stated Tom Hall, director for WHPS.

Under the supervision of Stephanie Spies, specialist, Student Counseling for WHPS, students like Jacques Werleigh has been able to work directly with the Arboretum staff to manage the garden.

“It’s so rewarding to be able to provide students fresh produce at the Knights Helping Knights Pantry,” stated Spies. Their next step is to provide some quick and inexpensive recipes with the next harvest drop off at pantry.

WHPS  office is in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.
