Prominent writers, editors, columnists, broadcasters and bloggers will share their thoughts on the future of the news media during a public forum Thursday, Jan. 21, at the University of Central Florida.

 

“News Media in Transition: Trends and Future Prospects,” organized by the Global Perspectives Office, will take place in the Cape Florida Ballroom of the Student Union from 2 to 5 p.m. The forum is free and open to the public.

 

Suzanne Seggerman, president and co-founder of Games for Change and a former documentary film producer for PBS, will give the opening keynote presentation on the evolving role of electronic media.

 

Other presenters include James S. Hill, managing editor of The Washington Post Writers Group; Jamie McIntyre, a former CNN Senior Pentagon Correspondent who now is a blogger and consultant; Ruben Funes, editor-in-chief of La Prensa; Charlotte Hall, editor of the Orlando Sentinel; Sara R. Brady, of Sara Brady Public Relations and formerly of Bright House Networks; and Amitabh Pal, co-editor of The Progressive Media Project.
