Wouldn’t it be great if a driver could pick you up and take you to class, your apartment or even the grocery store, free of charge? You’d never have to worry about parking on campus again.

Good news. The University of Central Florida offers a fleet of free shuttles that serves students, faculty and staff, on and off campus. And if you’re too busy hunting Pokémon to wait at a stop, you can even track your shuttle via GPS on a smartphone app so you don’t miss the bus.

Many students never bring their cars to campus. (Bonus, you won’t have to buy a parking pass.)

The Details

On Campus: If you want to go from one spot on campus to another, ride the Black and Gold lines. They constantly circle campus on Gemini Boulevard, with the Black Route running clockwise and the Gold Route running counter-clockwise. They run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, stopping at the busiest buildings and facilities. They hit every stop every 15 minutes or so.

Off Campus: If you live in one of the 20 off-campus apartment complexes closest to UCF, you can catch a shuttle to and from home. There are 14 shuttle routes between campus, apartment complexes and Central Florida Research Park. Those shuttles operate every 15 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Other Campuses: There are shuttles that run between the main campus and the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, and others that connect students at the Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona.

Groceries: On Tuesdays, the Grocery Shuttle runs to Publix at the University Palms Shopping Center just north of campus and several stops on campus: Marketplace, Academic Village (Nike), Towers (front of CFE Arena), and Lake Claire. Shuttles run every 45 minutes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the final pickup from Publix at 8 p.m.

Park and Ride: If you have trouble finding a parking space, leave your car in Lot E4, the Park and Ride lot at the softball stadium. A shuttle will pick you up there and drop you off at a stop by the Health and Public Affairs buildings. The Park and Ride shuttles typically run continuously from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and pick up every 15 minutes. During the early part of the fall semester, the shuttles will run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Due to the temporary closure of Parking Garage C, additional park-and-ride services will temporarily be available at Bright House Networks Stadium from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting Monday. Shuttles will take students to and from the Health and Public Affairs buildings.
