Members of the UCF President’s Circle were acknowledged for their contributions to the university last night at a reception in the Art Gallery.  The donors in this giving society make annual gifts between $1,000 and $24,999  in support of students, programs and initiatives.

Surrounded by the exhibition of BFA students’ artwork entitled Under One Roof — so named for the students’ shared art-making goals of creating excellence despite their different disciplines of study — donors were also reminded of their shared commitment to excellence for UCF.

UCF President John C. Hitt was on hand to express his thanks to donors for their support of many initiatives including scholarships for first-generation college students, the Knights Helping Knights Pantry, job-hunting resources and technology upgrades for facilities.

Dianne Owen ’93 shared her experiences as a proud alumna, a long-time supporter of her alma mater, past judge of the College of Business Joust competition and chair of the Alumni Association board. “The impact that UCF has had on my life and the lives of those in our community is almost immeasurable and it is an honor to give back,” she said.

Graduating senior Kayla Hernandez, a double major in Fine Art Photography and Art History, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the donors who provided not only financial support but “took a student who had always struggled for her achievements and gave her a huge self-esteem boost.” She continued, “I had a complete stranger who believed in me and my dreams, and made them a reality.”
