Academics Give AP Top 10 a New Look

The University of Central Florida finished in the Associated Press’ Top 10 for the first time ever this season. If you reorder the top 10 based on football student-athletes’ graduation rates, the Knights are No. 1.

UCF posted an 83 percent graduation rate for football student-athletes, surpassing Clemson’s 77 percent and Missouri’s 74 percent.

The graduation rates represent an average of the four most recent six-year graduation rates available (in this case, for the freshman classes that enrolled in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006). The rates are compiled annually by UCF’s Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport, led by Richard Lapchick.
